Spiritual Attacks: 7 Tell-Tale Signs You May Be a Victim of Occult Practices

Are you suffering from spiritual attacks? How do you know if these spiritual attacks are a result of occult practices? Witchcraft?

As Christians, we are called to know the tactics of the enemy and in this world we often experience spiritual attacks from the results of occult practices and/or witchcraft.

People use these tactics to aim their attacks at us or we could have either knowing or unknowing become a participant in these practices and need to get delivered from them through prayer in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.

What is witchcraft? Occult practices?

They come in many forms and are used to manipulate, control, steal, kill, and destroy people especially God’s people.

People don’t want to talk about this stuff because they say its a “scare tactic.” Fear is a symptom to a greater issue and will alert you when something is off.

Pay attention when you are fearful of something, a situation, people, or a person.

***Side Note*** Could there be other reasons why you are experiencing what’s listed below. Yes! This is meant to do a self-diagnosis in the spiritual realm of your life.

Ask Godly people for help as well. Ask the Lord for help in doing research.

I speak from experience. This is always a weird topic because people feel some type of way about it or think you are being too extreme, but the reality is people may be after you in this way. I’ve seen Christians suffer because of it.

We are seeing it more and more in society today because they aren’t hiding anymore.

Spiritual Attacks: Are You a Victim of Occult Practices? Witchcraft? 7 Possible Signs

Whenever spiritual attacks come along, we have to do a self-diagnosis and go through step by step what is happening in our life.

For instance, if we are having stomach problems, is it because we ate something we are allergic to or was something put in our food due to witchcraft? Both are possible, again speaking from experience.

The reason to do this diagnosis is NOT to go on an age old witch-hunt for the purpose of harming someone else. We are not called to do that, but it is to change our lives so we can cut off the access to us that is allowing witchcraft to take root and destroy.

The number #1 tactic in defeating witchcraft or occult practices over your life and to stop spiritual attacks is obeying God the Father, by accepting the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for your salvation, making Him Lord over your life, walking it out daily, and being powered by the Holy Spirit Who raised Him from the dead.

In the context of this post, this means, as a Christian you are not practicing the occult and/or witchcraft.

“There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.” (Deut. 18:10-12)

The Word of God is against these practices. One of the reasons you may be experiencing spiritual attacks could be because of these things.

First, how do you know these are spiritual attacks? Here are some signs that may help you uncover what exactly is going on with you.

1) Your sleep is disturbed.

These spiritual attacks could come in the form of nightmares, insomnia, “sleep paralysis”, constant tossing and turning, being woken up by “visitations”, or anything else that disrupts your sleep in a negative way.

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” (Psalm 4:8)

Peaceful rest comes from The Lord. If there is something disrupting your sleep, bring it to God. Ask Him to help you sleep and to reveal anything that may be causing the disruption.

It could be the movies you are watching, people you are talking to right before you go to sleep, gifts that have been given to you, or practices you are involved in that have opened up doorways to the demonic.

2) Your eating habits have changed for the worse.

As someone who never dealt with eating disorders and loves to eat, when I couldn’t physically eat and dropped 8 lbs., not in a healthy way, within 2 weeks, I knew it was a sign that I was under a spiritual attack. What I didn’t know is that it was witchcraft.

It was the ultimate sign The Lord used to grab my attention. Once I released myself from a group of people who I didn’t know were involved in the occult and were actively trying to take me down as Christian through witchcraft, my appetite and weight came back to normal.

Ask The Lord if this is your case.

3) You are physically being attacked.

You can physically feel your physical body being attacked.

Spiritual attacks can come in the form of feeling a heavy weight on you, your arms being twisted, your body being lifted, your tongue being twisted, your breathing labored, or your physical body being hunched over.

There are so many ways this can manifest. This is not an exhaustive list.

When this happens, you need strong Godly people to do a deliverance on you. If you are alone or have no one like that, you can still call out to the Lord Jesus Christ for His help and do a self-deliverance or ask Him to send people.

He is faithful and will provide. The Name of Jesus Christ is the only way these type of attacks can be released and you can find freedom.

“And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.” (Matt. 10:1)

4) You start acting like your old fleshy self.

One way I have seen witches and warlocks try to take down a Christian is by pointing them back to their old selves and tempting them to sin and be comfortable sinning the way they used to.

If you didn’t grow up in church, think of life before Christ. If you did grow up in church, think of life before you recommitted your life to Christ or had seasons of backsliding.

Whether it’s cursing, dancing in a provocative way, lusting, being vindictive or whichever way you have previously found victory from and have had victory for a long time.

Any time someone points you back to your old self, that is the enemy talking and he is using whoever that person is pointing you back there.

“He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.” (Psalm 103:12)

The Lord has forgotten your sin after you have repented. He will not bring your past up only the enemy will do that.

The enemy will try to trap you to sin again because the enemy and the people he uses will try to use it against you later.

5) You are being nudged by the Lord about removing yourself from people or environments.

If you feel the Holy Spirit warning you about certain people or environments, this could mean these people or environments are infected with the occult and/or practicing witchcraft.

For instance, if you feel like every time you talk with a certain person you walk away feeling spiritually and physically extremely drained, then this is a form of a spiritual attack. Some people are now calling it a “spiritual vampire.” These spiritual attacks are meant to tire and wear you down so when major battles come, you are too tired to fight them, and it leaves you feeling in a constant state of defeat.

If you enter churches, homes, or any environment where it feels off, impending doom, the urge to run, then this could be Holy Spirit letting you know something is off.

There were times where I have physically run from places because of this. Some people call it “their gut” but that is The Lord warning you about a place. We never know what people, yes even church leaders, have offered up in occult practices or allowed as far as doorways being opened up so listen to Holy Spirit.

If Holy Spirit pushes you to run, RUN! Yes, this includes churches!

6) Your people start dividing.

The people around you start becoming divisive. People are being nasty and arrogant towards each other. Spiritual attacks may come in the form of words being unloving, unkind, and ungodly.

People who have grown in the things of The Lord are now reverting back to their old selves because of hanging out with certain people. No one is getting along.

Unfortunately, people will disguise themselves as “Christians” but are on assignment to cause you to turn against each other especially Christian and loving communities.

Disruption and destruction from the inside out.

“Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” (1 Cor. 15:33)

Are we responsible for our own actions regardless of who is around us? Yes, but sometimes we don’t realize that our actions are being affected. It can be a slow process of going downhill. It may take someone calling it out for you to notice.

Can we try to stop this from happening? Yes, but only if people are willing. Sometimes, they are and other times they are not. You may be called out of that community before it takes you under. God cares about you too!

7) You find certain people are asking you a lot of questions.

There are such things as “monitoring spirits” and the jobs of these spirits are to get information from you and they do it through people. If you find that the same person or group of people keep asking for information over and over again, be aware. Information is currency in the kingdom of darkness.

Do not reveal everything to everyone. Only release information to trustworthy people.

Who is trustworthy? Ask The Lord to reveal to you who those people are in your life and if you don’t have anyone, ask Him to send you people. This may change too so be aware! A person may be trustworthy in one season, but then change in the next season.

When it comes to witchcraft and occult practices, those who are being used by the enemy in these areas want to know if their witchcraft or occult practices aka spiritual attacks are working on you.

They will ask questions like, “How are you sleeping? How are you feeling? How is your marriage? Are you dealing with anxiety? Are you dealing with depression?” Is everyone who asks these questions practicing the occult? No. However, if you notice things start getting crazy especially after giving these people information, then you may want to seek The Lord about them so He can show you if they are from Him or not.

Trust me, He will.

I pray this helps you in discerning the spirits which we are called to do. “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1). Everything must be done with the Holy Spirit. Your prayer life must be active and consistent so you know the voice of the Father versus every other voice there is.

Again, this information is not for a witch hunt, but to able to discern who is in your life and whether or not they could be practicing witchcraft or occult practices against you so the spiritual attacks can stop.
