Teenage Prayers: Prayer for Heartbreak

Lord Jesus Christ, I know You hear all prayers including teenage prayers and I lift up this prayer for heartbreak. I have to remind myself that You are a God of RESTORATION and when you HEAL someone you HEAL them as a WHOLE. No one has power over me that You can’t break, no one has pieces of me, and no one can hold me hostage in their heart.

Regardless of what kind of history I have with them, regardless of how long they were a part of my life, regardless of the mistakes I may have made for them or with them, You break every chain, bondage, or attachment tying me to someone and my past with them.

Lord, I ask for forgiveness for any step I may have taken away from You, replacing You with this person as my god, forgetting You and Your will for my life. I ask for you to come in and wash every trace of bitterness, resentment, anger, frustration, desire, want, and need to be with someone You have released from my life. Replace every memory with new direction, guidance, and focus. Help me find my place in Your work so I can keep my eyes focused on You and run the race well.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Heb. 12:1-2)

Lord, I thank You for full healing and restoration. Again, I thank You that You hear all prayers including teenage prayers and regardless of what the enemy will try and make me think I know you care about this prayer for heartbreak. I thank You for redemption, new beginnings, strength, and courage to face my future without this person. I thank You and I know what You have in store for me is far better than I could ever imagine. I thank You no one is my definition. Only You have the authority to define me Lord and You do so with great affirming words as Your son or daughter. I thank you that I can hope and know You have the right person for me, the right path, and the source in finding peace it all in Your Word.

I thank You Lord that You see me, You see my pain, and I am not forgotten. I ask for Your Presence to be so overwhelming during those moments of doubt and grief that I will fall to my knees in worship because You are greater than any issue I have. As I journey through and lift up this prayer for heartbreak, I know You will come through. I pray to experience You in new ways during this season.
