7 Prayers for Fear and Anxiety
Prayers for fear and anxiety are okay to learn. It’s not a lack of faith but a step in faith knowing we need His help. How do we pray when we are fearful and have tons of anxiety especially during this time? Where do we find the words for prayers for fear and anxiety when our minds are overwhelmed already? What if it’s my first time praying ever? What do I say?
Whether it’s the first time or the thousandth time, God will listen to you. God wants it, He wants all of it, and He can take all of it. Will you turn your eyes and voice to Him?
God listens to us.

“Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.” (Isa. 65:24)
I wanted to start off with these reminders so you can go before your Lord and Savior KNOWING He hears you. If He’s not your Lord and Savior, ask Him to be (see the first tip down below for help), let us know in the comments below if you asked Him into your life so we can celebrate and pray for you.

Remember, how He will respond will be up to Him.
He is not a genie in a bottle that makes everything come true. If we don’t understand why there is a NO or why it didn’t go the way we asked, ask Him. He can handle everything you bring to Him but remember you are talking to the Almighty King so come with reverence and respect but also with a vulnerable intimacy with your heart because He is still your Father and He seeks to comfort His children.
9 Tips for Prayers for Fear and Anxiety
1) Know Who you are talking to.
We are praying in the Name of Jesus Christ, no other god, vibe, good thoughts, energy, universe, nothing like that. Jesus Christ is the ONLY Name by which our prayers have power. There is nothing else in this world that can save. When we are praying that is the Person we are praying to. Again, we are praying to our Lord Jesus Christ, no one else and to nothing else.
If you are not saved yet aka surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, now is the time. Say, “Lord Jesus Christ, I repent of sins, meaning I am asking for forgiveness for my sins knowing that I do sin and I am turning away from that lifestyle, I know that You died for me on the cross, was raised again in 3 days, and are coming back, I ask that You become Lord and Savior of my life, in the Might Name of Jesus Christ, amen!” Welcome to the family. Let us know in the comments below if you prayed that prayer.
2) Ask Holy Spirit to help you.
He lives inside of us and is working on our behalf. Ask Him to give you the words. If you don’t have the Holy Spirit or are questioning whether or not you do, ask Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior and ask Him to fill you with the Holy Spirit. Yes, it’s that easy. As you spend time in the presence of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, you will come to know His voice and experience how Holy Spirit directs and guides His children and if you have asked Him into your life, this includes you.
3) These prayer starters are just to get you started.
You can start with what’s written and stop at any time to allow the Holy Spirit to take over and make it unique to you. You can start with these prayers for fear and anxiety and add on little by little. This is not meant to be an exhaustive or detailed list but merely a means of getting you started.
4) These prayers aren’t magical.
They aren’t magical in the sense that they will immediately rid you of all your problems but they can help you see them differently, give you strength to walk differently, know how to work around them, and the most important thing is to bring you to the throne of your Almighty King.
5) Find a place where you are alone.
Get rid of all distractions. Put your phone on silence. Tell people you will be busy in the next hour or so. I pray the Lord will take care of everything while you are in this private time with Him. If Jesus Christ, Who is Lord, made an appointment to be with the Father, how much more do we need to?
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary
place, where he prayed.” (Mark 1:35)
6) Be real.
God knows it all already and He can take it but be respectful. You are entering the gates and throne of an Almighty King, but you are also entering the presence of your Father. He wants to comfort you. Allow Him to.
7) Meet Him everyday. Wait.
The answer may come quickly, which includes yes, no, and not yet. It could take a while. Keep approaching the throne and wait. Wait knowing you are in the presence of your Almighty King.
8) Speak it out loud.
You don’t have to scream these prayers unless you really need to. God is okay with desperate cries. You can easily have a conversational tone and speak to God like He is in the space with you because He is. It helps to clear the atmosphere and environment of those things that are NOT of our Lord Jesus Christ as well. Praying in your mind is fine too.
This is not meant to be legalistic. I have just found when I open my mouth, I become a lot more real and emotional. I allow myself to hear what I’m feeling and ask the Lord for more. If you can do this just with your thoughts, that’s okay too. You will learn how you pray and what works best for you.
Jesus Christ gave us an example of how to pray, as children of the Almighty King we can add to this our feelings and emotions. This is THE prayer starter of all prayer starters which you can find in (Luke 11:2-4).

7 Prayers for Fear and Anxiety
**some of the definitions come from Google dictionary**
C-O-M-F-O-R-T
1) C- cast: throw (something) with force in a specified direction.
“Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
Cast all of it, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I’m scared. I’m really, really, really, scared. I don’t know how to see past all that is happening and it’s making me so anxious I can’t function. Help me Lord because I can’t do this on my own. The world is caving in and I feel like I’m being crushed. Help me to be reminded of Your Word during these desperate times. As I read Your Word help my spirit to absorb all you say in how You protect me, how You love me, and how You watch over me. I rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety in my body, I ask that You cleanse me from head to toe. Remove all that is not of You and bless me with Your peace and comfort. You are the Lord of me, nothing else in this world is.
You are the Miracle Worker, Redeemer, and my friend. You care for me. You know me in ways no one else does. I pray You speak directly to those places in my heart that need healing and restoration. I pray Your words would bring death to those things against me and life to those things for me. May Your words resurrect my spirit and soul so I can live another day, another hour, another minute. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”(Jer. 29:11) Your plans are good plans. I can look past disaster because there You are, standing with hands wide open. You are an awesome God. I pray all of this in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ, amen!
2) O-omniscient-He is the God Who knows everything, every single thing…
Do you know the many attributes of God? This is one of them.
[bctt tweet=”Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. (Isa. 40:28)” username=”ninaslay4christ”]
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, even when I don’t understand, will You give me peace? I don’t see the whole picture, but I am safe in the hands of You Who does. I may not understand why this is happening the way it is happening, but I know You know the beginning from the end. I pray to continually remind myself that You are alone are God, there is no one or nothing like You. You created the heavens and the earth. You alone are Holy. You know every single detail. I pray for peace in knowing I am not in control and that’s okay because You are and I am in safety being in the hands of my Father.
I release full control to you and if there is any part of me that is anxious and fearful of doing that, I pray Lord You will speak to that place now and bring it under Your Authority. I pray my mind will come under Your Authority. I pray my body will come under Your Authority. I pray my spirit and emotions will come under Your Authority. If there is anything that I have not mentioned that must come under Your Authority, bring it under Your Authority now. I pray all of this in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ, amen!
3) M-mercy-at its simplest is forgiveness and at its fullest is receiving the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross.
He is the merciful God.
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, You are a merciful God, no other god shows mercy like You. I pray for mercy now in my time of need. Help me oh Lord! I know You hear my cries and I know You can answer me in a way no one else can. I pray for Your mercy over my country, over my town, over my family, and over myself. Lord we look to You for help because You are where our help comes from. “I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth!” (Psalm 121:1-2) We repent oh Lord and ask for Your mercy over us.
We thank You for Who You are. You are the Redeemer of our lives. May You speak healing and restoration over my situation and how I am responding to it. Regardless of how small I may think it is, You care about it all, and You show me mercy as I repent and turn my face to You, away from all the idols and distractions in my life. Thank You for showing me mercy already by giving me more time. I pray all of this in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ, amen!
4) F-faith-complete trust in our God
“So that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” (1 Cor. 2:5)
[bctt tweet=”Sometimes it’s not the word of men but the Word of God that moves.” username=”ninaslay4christ”]
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I pray for unmovable faith, “Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24). If we doubt at all, remove it from us Father. May we pray like we know those mountains would move, “He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you” (Matt. 17:20).
Lord, let us pray bold prayers and whatever it is causing fear and anxiety, we pray it will move like the mountain it can be in our life. I pray You will remove it and we can breathe with freedom like we never have before. We pray if fear and anxiety are like mountains on our chest, arms, or trapped somewhere on our body that You would move this mountain off of us, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.
5) O-omnipotent-God as all powerful, able to do anything
Again, do you know the many attributes of God? This is another one.
“Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.” (Psalm 147:5)
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, remind me how powerful You are. As I search the scriptures to see how powerful You have been in the past, bring them to memory when I feel fear and anxiety are greater than You. I rebuke any thoughts that would make me think this way. I pray for a cleansing of my mind. You oh Lord are the only Authority over my mind, my body, and my spirit. You are the One Who I bow down to. When I feel it all is too powerful for me, I will run to You over and over. I pray as I walk away stronger and stronger, I will know exactly what to pray for, not just for me but for those around me.
Let people around me see Jesus Christ in my eyes. In Your authority I walk because You gave me that. You can only give what You have and that’s true power in Your Name and in the blood You shed for me. I thank You for helping us when we feel powerless. I thank You that You are above are problems and even in them You prove to us Who You are always. I pray all of this in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.
6) R-redeemer-someone who regains possession of something in exchange for payment
Jesus Christ did exactly that when He died on the cross and He still saves.
“I, I am the Lord, and besides me there is no savior.” (Isa. 43:11)
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, remind me You are the God who always redeems. You keep redeeming. The work of the cross isn’t just a work that was done thousands of years ago but a work that continues to work even up to this moment and for eternity after. We pray the work of redemption over your world, this country, other countries, families, and myself. I pray there will be a turning of hearts to You, Jesus Christ.
We thank You for Your sacrifice, we thank You for the gift of salvation. We thank You that Your sacrifice is a constant work, Your redemption is a constant work, You are constantly working. May we look to the cross and see how much You love us even when we don’t understand. Thank You for redeeming us, Lord. I pray all of this in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ, amen!
7) T-trust
Do you trust Him?
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I trust You. I trust You. I trust You. I will repeat it again and again until my whole being believes it. I know You are in control when I am not. I know You are God and I am not. I know in Your hands only good can come out of this. Remind me of this scripture again, “Immediately the father of the child cried out[a] and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24). It may not be what I want it to look like but I trust I will laugh again, I will rejoice even in the midst of trouble, I will look toward a future even if I can’t see it.
You are my Guiding Hand when the clouds are too dark. You are in the midst of the storm, You control the storm, You see from beginning to end, You know all the details of my life. I trust You. I trust You. I trust YOU! You are the Almighty King Who can be trusted. You have brought so many out of trials stronger and more refined. I trust You will bring me out of this as well. I trust I am not alone. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. I trust You are here” (Joshua 1:9). Even if I don’t feel You, I know You are here. Even if I don’t hear You, I know You are speaking over my situation. Even if I don’t see You, I can trust You see me. I trust You Lord!
