Trusting God in the Storms of Life: 7 Peace in the Storm Bible Verses

Trusting God in the storms of life can be challenging but knowing some spiritual tools for growth can help train you in overcoming storms of life. With tools like, “Peace in the Storm Bible Verses,” readily available you can start learning how to manage and eventually see victory.

Man, there are times when life will send a rain cloud my way or maybe a slight drizzle. Then there are other times when it seems like I need to run for cover and throw my family in the basement!

Let’s face it; we can control trials as much as we can control the weather.

However, one thing is for sure like the seasons it comes and it goes, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens” (Eccl. 3:1).

What do we do in the meantime? It really depends. There are times when we need to decide how and where we should weather the storm. For some of us, torrential rains are no biggie and there are other times when the slightest threat of rain will keep us inside. The key is listening to THE Weatherman. Here are some things to keep in mind when deciding on how to weather your storm:

1) Preparation-

Being prepared is key. If you go outside and see the clouds are a threatening grey, wind is picking, and there is a slight chill in the air, most of us would go get an umbrella, rain jacket, rain boots. If you don’t, you risk getting wet, cold, and sick.

The same thing goes for life.

God warns us, “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” (Eph. 6:11).

If you aren’t in the Word daily, praying/talking to God, have meaningful fellowship, or part of a bible based church then you risk drowning in the deep waters of life. Be prepared with the “rain gear” God gave you (see Eph. 6:10-17).

2) Attitude-

We can either walk around with that rain cloud sitting over our head (looking a lot like Eeyore) or throw on your favorite rain coat and get to jumping in those puddles!

Remember, for every storm there is a rainbow waiting to show itself. “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thess. 5:16-18).

The key words being, “in ALL circumstances”. It’s okay to stay in once in a while but don’t allow one rainy day to ruin all the other sunny ones.

3) Decide-

There may be times when God will ask you to either weather the storm in your shelter of choice, “Be still, and know that I am God…” (Psalm 46:10) or put on the boots and get moving, “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philip. 3:14).

Either way you must have faith that He is directing your ways and make sure to bring it all before Him.

“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans” (Prov. 16:3, see Matt. 4:35-41)

4) Reason-

There may be a reason for the storm. The same way the earth needs rain in order to be cleansed, there may be a reason for the storm we are in. Ask Him. Take a look at your life.

Have you strayed from God? Is there something you need to be learning? Is there a part of your life that needs to be cleansed? Is God allowing the torrential rains to clear away ALL of the garbage and have you start new?

“Yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death” (2 Cor. 7:9-10).

This is not to diminish the pain you are in.

If there is something we need to change for our improvement, then it’s best we take time to self-reflect and obey God’s voice in the reflection.

Peace in the Storm Bible Verses

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” (Philip. 4:6)

Just like the seasons and weather change so does the course of our life. It’s important to realize this because so many have taken their life in a storm not realizing their sunny day was a few moments away.

Even if you feel like you are getting swept away remember this, “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” (Psalm 18:2).

Hold on to your rock, stand on it, and you will survive the storm or those pesky raindrops!
